Leggings had their heyday in the 80s when they were perceived to be stretchy, tight pants to be worn under big, oversized shirts. Some people thought it was cool to also wear them under mini-skirts but until the ankles. Therefore, leggings were footless in those days but fashion trends decided to extend them a little to cover half the foot. As compared to stockings, leggings were made to be thicker and opaque, and were usually made of cotton or lycra or even denim! And leggings are so versatile that they can be worn with almost anything! (except pants of course) and they look oh so sexy with heels, flats, boots, you name it.
We think that leggings are an understated fashion item especially in Singapore because of the warm weather and sweltering heat, but girls can use this to exude the chic factor and protect the skin of their legs from the sun!

Stockings

As compared to their thicker counterparts, stockings are more commonly sighted in Singapore especially among working women who wear them with pencil skirts. However, stockings are perceived to be a part of office wear and not as a fashion statement which is such a waste! According to the many definitions we found, 'stockings' are described as 'sheer' (which we did for our labeling!) and see-through and are usually worn covering the entire legs up to the waist. The 'sheerness' for stockings is measured through a unit called Deniers. The lower the denier, the finer the yarn and hence the greater the sheerness.
There have been many arguments over how high stockings go. If we rummage through the fashion books in history, stockings were usually worn only up to the knees or thighs (think Marie Antoniette) especially by the French and English and even men! Today, some women still wear thigh-level stockings these days but many also choose to wear stockings up to the waist. Moreover, some people also make a distinction between stockings and pantyhose as well!

How about footless tights?

Bearing more similarity to leggings than stockings, footless tights are probably the warmest (due to the material) and the most opaque. In Singapore, women sighted in footless tights are often the aunties at the market and rarely worn among the younger girls unless they are on their way to the gym for a workout. Even still, these sports tights would be made of lycra (for sweat absorption) and not thick cotton. 'Footless tights' would be those that extend to the ankles but shorter versions extended to the calf or thighs are popular options in Singapore.

Like I suggest , if you know nothing about the photos / leggings . Maybe I shall emphasize NOTHING about my photos / leggings , please do not tag at my enquiry board because this only reflect the amount of understanding / knowledge you have about how my photos came about being copyrighted . But it was a good point though as it will help me in the future in clearing doubts of people like you who have the least understanding in things and instead try to correct me ( who have a much better understanding in the difference between leggings / stockings ) and you know nuts about what you're talking about .
